Our company, URS Greiner Woodward Clyde, is the Owner’s Representative for Design-Build projects being constructed by the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). AAFES are the retailers for most consumer products and services provided to the active and retired families in US military communities worldwide. Neeser Construction recently completed a $35 Million Joint Military Mall for AAFES and the Defence Commissary Agency at Elmendorf Air Force Base near Anchorage, Alaska. The 330,000 SF project was completed on a very short schedule with outstanding quality by Neeser and their team.

This fast-track project had the challenges of a late start in the brief Alaska construction season; business decision driven mid-project changes to the food services area; acceleration to be ready for a full Christmas retail season; and the complexity of two clients with different standards working under one contract. End result was a huge job done with outstanding quality; the desired Grand Opening date was met with the Contractor’s full resources available for all last minute client requests. Neeser’s previous long term partnership with their architect-engineer and quality assurance sub-consultants allowed them to react to those challenges with minimum instructions and assistance from the Owner’s technical resources. They lend a true partnering attitude to the management of their projects. Our clients were pleased and I would welcome the opportunity to work with Neeser and their team anytime again in the near future.
